GROSSE POINTE, Mich. — Grosse Pointe North senior forward Josie Cueter has been named the MGHSHL 2024-25 Miss Hockey, an award recognizing the top high school girls’ hockey player in Michigan.

Cueter, a dominant force on the ice, led the Norsemen with a standout season, showcasing her skill, leadership, and scoring ability.  She finished the year as one of the state’s top point producers, helping Grosse Pointe North remain a perennial contender in the Michigan Girls High School Hockey League (MGHSHL).

"Josie is not only a phenomenal hockey player but also an extraordinary leader and role model. As a two-season, sole Head Captain, she has led her team with enthusiasm, positivity, and unwavering support.  She never boasts or complains—instead, she lifts up those around her, fostering a team culture built on encouragement and camaraderie" GPN head coach Taylor Shaheen said.

Known for her speed, vision, and ability to finish around the net, Cueter’s impact extended beyond the scoresheet.  She served as a captain for North and played a crucial role in the program’s success.

The Miss Hockey award, presented annually, recognizes excellence in high school girls’ hockey, factoring in skill, sportsmanship, and contributions to the sport.  Cueter joins an elite list of past winners who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

"For the past ten years of my life, hockey has brought me not only a source of joy, but it has also left me with the most unforgettable memories and some of my closest friends.  When I think of all of the friends I’ve made through hockey, I think of my best friends, my favorite people. " Cueter said.  "As I look back on my hockey journey, I realize this sport will always be a part of who I am.  No matter where life takes me, I know I will always find my way back to the ice. "

Beyond her on-ice achievements, Cueter’s leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on Grosse Pointe North’s hockey program.  Her commitment to growing the game and inspiring younger players has set a standard for future Norsemen to follow.  As she closes out her high school career, her legacy will be remembered as one of excellence, determination, and passion for the sport.
