New Season, New Social Media Rollout

This year, the league is launching a brand-new social media initiative designed to give players a bigger voice and spotlight in the high school girls’ hockey community. Each team will select two Team Ambassadors who will submit videos to the league for posting throughout the season. From game-day takeovers to behind-the-scenes clips, these ambassadors will help share the excitement, camaraderie, and personality of Michigan girls’ hockey like never before.

Be sure to follow along for all the action and creativity the teams come up with:

League Growth & Structure

The MGHSHL continues to expand, with 22 teams competing this season — including Flint United, which has moved from affiliate status to become a full Division 1 league team.

This year, teams will compete across three divisions — Division 1, 2, and 3 — organized by overall skill level. Factors such as the number of graduating seniors, incoming players, school population, and coach input all played a role in shaping the divisions to ensure balanced and competitive play throughout the season.

Each division will crown both a Regular Season Champion and a State Champion, making for an exciting postseason as teams battle for top honors.

League-Wide Showcase at Big Boy Arena

Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 10, 2026, when the MGHSHL hosts its annual League Showcase at Big Boy Arena in Fraser. All 22 league teams will take the ice — all under one roof, in one action-packed day.

The Showcase provides an incredible opportunity for college coaches and recruiters to see the state’s top high school talent in one place and meet the players in person.

Adding to the excitement, this year’s event will also feature a Skills Competition including:

  • Fastest Skater

  • Hardest Shot

  • Most Accurate Shot

  • Shootout Challenge

Each team can nominate one player per event, and each player may only compete in one event to maximize exposure across the league.

Playoffs & Championships

The 2025–26 MGHSHL Playoffs will also take place at Big Boy Arena, kicking off on February 26, 2026. Championship Saturday — featuring all three division title games — will be held on March 7, 2026.
