As the calendar turns toward the heart of winter, the Michigan Girls High School Hockey League (MGHSHL) is officially in full swing. Teams across all three divisions have settled into their rhythm, rivalries are heating up, and every game is beginning to carry added weight as the postseason comes into view.

Division Standings at the Midway Point

Competition has been fierce across the league, with several teams emerging as early leaders in their respective divisions:

  • Division 1 has seen strong starts from Traverse City, Grosse Pointe South, and Mid-Michigan, each setting the pace with consistent play and depth across their lineups.

  • Division 2 is currently led by Livonia United, Walled Lake, and Bloomfield–Birmingham, showcasing balanced teams that continue to challenge one another night after night.

  • Division 3 has been highlighted by standout performances from Sacred Heart United, Northville United, and St. Clair Shores United, all of whom have demonstrated impressive growth and competitive drive early in the season.

With plenty of hockey still to be played, the standings remain fluid, and every point matters as teams battle for playoff positioning.

League Showcase & Skills Competition Approaching

One of the most anticipated events of the season is just around the corner. The MGHSHL League Showcase and Skills Competition will take place on Saturday, January 10th, at Big Boy Arena in Fraser.

This special event brings the entire league together under one roof, with all league teams playing one game throughout the day. Following the games, teams will participate in a league-wide Skills Competition, where one player from each team will be nominated to represent their program in the following events:

  • Hardest Shot

  • Agility Race

  • Fastest Skater

  • 1v1 Shootout

The showcase not only highlights individual talent but also celebrates the league as a whole, creating a unique and exciting experience for players, families, and fans alike.
